Corporate History

1964	Benda Kogyo Co., Ltd. founded at Hondori, Kure-shi, Hiroshima. Chairman: Kazuyoshi Yashiro / President and Executive Director: Yasuhiro Yashiro Plant opened at Menda, Hiroshiraishi, Kure-shi.
1965	Built new business office for Hiro Plant at Hiroshiratake, Kure-shi.
1969	Built Benda Kogyo Tokuyama Plant at Wada, Suetakeshimo, Kudamatsu-shi. Works Manager: Yasuhiro Yashiro(concurrent post)
1972	The construction of the Benda Kogyo headquarters and Kawajiri plant completed. Production of concrete piles began.
1973	Granted patent for “method of cold-bending H-steels”.
1974	Granted patent for “method of bending steel pipes at small radius by cold processing”. Built Benda Kogyo Kawajiri Plant No. 2 (currently company housing for single employees).
1975	Granted patent in 9 countries for “method and apparatus for manufacturing metal ring material”. Entered automotive industry. Sold the Tokuyama Plant to Tokuyama Kikai (currently Tokki Co., Ltd.).
1976	Installed a continuous combustion furnace at Benda Kogyo. This allowed heat treatment to be performed in house, leading to the start of the full scale production of ring blanks.
1979	Established the “Benda Method”.
1984	Built Benda Kogyo Nigata Plant at Nigatasambashidori, Kure-shi, Hiroshima.
1985	Established Kanto Benda Kogyo Co., Ltd. at Shimotsuboyama, Minamikawachimachi, Kawachi-gun, Tochigi. President and Representative Director: Yasuhiro Yashiro / Works Manager: Yukio Yashiro
1986	Established Benda Sunkwang Industrial Co., Ltd. in Incheon, South Korea.
1987	Han Kwang Seok took on the post of Representative Director of Benda Sunkwang.
1988	Increased capital to 58.5 million yen. Established Korea Steel Industries Co., Ltd. Built Benda Kogyo Kawajiri Plant No. 3.
1990	Established the joint venture Jibuhin Thailand Co., Ltd. (currently IJTT (Thailand) Co., Ltd.) in Chonburi Province, Thailand.
1992	Introduced assurance technology for welded areas through production for hub support.
1993	Built Benda Kogyo Plant No. 4. (currently Asia Trading Co., Ltd.) Ended production for hub support.
1994	Installed a cold-rolling machine, to achieve an integrated production system for ring products.
1995	Established Qingdao Benda Automobile Parts Co., Ltd. in Qingdao, China. Established Benda Amtek Co., Ltd. through joint investment with Amtek Auto Limited in Delhi, India.
1996	Established Asia Trading Co., Ltd. (previously Benda Shoji)
1997	Kazuyoshi Yashiro passed away.
1998	Transitioned to an integrated production system to increase the ratio of cold-rolling produced in house.
2000	Benda Sunkwang acquired all shares in Korea Steel. Benda Sunkwang acquired QS 9000.
2002	Benda Sunkwang expanded to the Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon. Benda Kogyo Tokyo Business Office opened in Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa. Benda Kogyo acquired ISO 9001.
2004	Benda Kogyo acquired ISO 14001. Benda Sunkwang expanded to plant No. 3. Built a 1 pc flexplate line.
2005	Established the Benda R&D Center in Benda Sunkwang.
2006	Established Yancheng Benda Gear Co., Ltd. as the 2nd base in China.
2007	Benda Kogyo Higashihiroshima Plant completed in the Prefectural Kurose Industrial Complex in Higashihiroshima City. Developed a cutting machine for a new manufacturing method at the head plant.
2008	Yancheng Benda acquired ISO/TS 16949. Senior Director Kazunari Yashiro took on the post of President and Executive Director. Yasuhiro Yashiro took on the post of Chairman and Executive Director.
2009	Participated in a workshop on new technologies and methods organized by Toyota Motor Corporation. This experience engendered our high-yield expansion and spinning methods.
2010	Selected for FY 2009 Monozukuri Small and Medium Enterprise Product Development Grant Project, for the development of equipment and technologies for small- and large-diameter rings. Built Benda Kogyo Higashihiroshima Plant No. 2.
2011	Started mass production of clutch hub blanks through the utilization of equipment and technologies for small-diameter rings. Chairman Yasuhiro Yashiro passed away suddenly in China. Developed a hot-rolling machine, and installed it in Higashihiroshima Plant No. 2. Flywheel assembly line and laser flexplate assembly line built in Plant No. 4 at Benda Sunkwang.
2012	Korea Steel built hot- and cold-rolling lines at Asan Plant. Started mass production of large-diameter rings through the utilization of equipment and technologies for large-diameter rings. Production volume exceeded 5 million units annually at Qingdao Benda.
2013	Established Benda (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Yancheng Benda built a CO2 welding assembly production line.
2014	Opening ceremony held in February for Thailand plant at Benda Thailand. First shipment ceremony held in August. Transitioned to a consolidated accounting system and accounting audits implemented. Started the “One Benda Project” as the 1st medium-term business plan. Held ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company.
2016	Built Benda Kogyo Higashihiroshima Plant No. 1.
2017	Started the “One Benda Project 2nd” as the 2nd medium-term business plan.
2018	Built Benda Kogyo Headquarters Kure Plant in the Naeshiro Industrial Complex in Kure City. Established Yancheng Benda Shenyang Branch Plant.
2019	Built Benda Sunkwang new integrated plant in Incheon. Yancheng Benda moved to Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone.
2020	Started the “One Benda Project 3rd NEXT” as the 3rd medium-term business plan. Started delivery of hybrid automotive parts. Semyung Industrial Machinery Co., Ltd. in Korea was relocated to establish Benda Engineering Co., Ltd. in Japan.
2021	Established Benda Global Technical Center and Benda Innovation Tech Gallery.
2022	Integrated Benda Sunkwang Industrial Co., Ltd. and Korea Steel Industries Co., Ltd. Signed a share transfer agreement with Iwaseya Corporation.
